a serious hockey tournament with a serious purpose

Calling on the popular phrase, Give Blood - Play Hockey, as its namesake, GBPH 2007 is a highly competitive, three day roller hockey tournament that invites teams, players, families and the community to participate in this exciting, roller hockey and fundraising event. 

Loaded with fun-filled activities, the event encourages adults in the community to donate their life-giving blood in combination with a fundraiser with proceeds benefiting both the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and this year’s Goal Can beneficiary, Evan Cousineau, a 9 year old hockey player who has captured hearts everywhere as he battles with adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD). 

 GBPH 2007 is a marquis roller hockey event hosted by the 949 Roller Hockey Center in Irvine, CA and an all volunteer group of inspired organizers whose Hockey With A Heart spirit is the foundation of this annual event.  

Aside from competitive roller hockey action, GBPH 2007 features also include sports celebrities, corporate sponsor programs, specialty food vendors and fundraising activities, including a raffle for an integrated 42" flat screen home entertainment system valued at over $6000, fun events for family and children, skills competition, and much, much more.

This just in!... The GBPH Tourney will be visited on Saturday afternoon by Ryan Getzlaf, the 6'-3" Center of the of the 2007 Stanley Cup winners, the Anaheim Ducks. Anaheim's 1st round choice, 19th overall, in 2003, Ryan led the team in 2007 postseason scoring in pursuit of the Stanley Cup. Ryan will be addressing tournament participants and be available for an autograph session.

Teams ranging from Squirt Club up through High School, including area IHF teams, and Adult, beginner and Pro alike are encouraged to participate and compete for the perpetual trophy, Give Blood – Play Hockey Cup. Teams will have three guaranteed games, plus a playoff for the top seeds. Registration is limited to seventy teams total across all divisions. A $100 deposit will reserve a spot for your team.
